Nars Bento Box Limited Edition

A long time ago I used to work for Nars cosmetics, and I remembered how exciting it was to be working for one of the top cosmetic lines that were frequently used at New York Fashion Week. When we were learning  how to translate the newest looks for runway models onto our everyday customer, we often had to watch countless training videos of all of the behind the scenes hair and makeup backstage at the shows. And I loved every minute of it. Especially when we got out our own gratis every six months, eventually collecting a large amount of cosmetics to fill an entire makeup artists box up a couple times over, oh do I miss the days of gratis. But I do still love Nars, and all of the great  cosmetic names he has come up with over the years to amuse us. This concept is great, and I do have a fascination Bento and Kabuki
While some of us are looking for a simple beauty routine, others are looking to create art; happily, if the makeup-as-art concept sounds familiar, it is time to indulge. In November, NARS Cosmetics is introducing the Bento Box Set, a limited edition set of Kabuki lip color inspired by the traditional Japanese theatre of the same name. As the story goes, years ago, NARS founder and creative director François Nars found actual Kabuki lipstick while travelling in Japan. Fast forward to 2010, Nars has developed a modern formula that produces a rich, matte color. Two porcelain Kabuki bowels sit in a handmade bento box, each one filled with hand-poured, highly-pigmented lip color—Maiko is a vivid red, Sakura is a bright pink. Alongside, you’ll find a handmade Kabuki lip brush, its handle wrapped in Wisteria.

The NARS Bento Box Set will be available at NARS counters, as well as online nline at Narscosmetics.com on November 2. No official word on prices, yet, although we have heard it will be in the range of $150. Add your name to the waiting list at Narscosmetics.com/bento.
