Thomas Nozkowski Abstract Art
I was happily reading next months October issue of Elle Decor
when I came across an article by David Colman about an abstract artist Thomas Nozkowski. I thought the artwork was fantastic! All of his work has an exhuberance that leaps off the canvas at you, wioth bold beatiful technicolor, but with a simplicity that is hard to explain. There is something about the shape and color that I am attracted to, that I am sure you will also enjoy!

Born: 1947, New Jersey; Education: The Cooper Union, New York, Bachelor of Fine Arts, 1967
Thomas Nozkowski has been described as a “post-minimal formalist,” by LA Weekly and as “the Chardin of contemporary abstraction,” by The New Yorker. His painting and composition involve the interplay of biomorphic and geometric forms, which heave and rock against each other. All works are coded by number, purposely not titled. The abstract forms become the center of attention without alluding to the real objects in the artist’s memory which gave birth to them. Furthermore, for most viewers, the abstract forms are a two-way bridge back to the viewer’s memory bank, evoking images, and parts of images or forms stored there. Hard looking will be rewarded with this artist. Highly regarded by other professional artists across the country this mid-career artist has seen his work welcomed in traveling exhibitions at universities as well as sought after by some of the most important American museums. Traditionally Nozkowski has produced work using a placemat size format, roughly 16 x 20". More recent works have been produced in larger dimensions. For this exhibition we will be showcasing his paintings on museum board as well as his newly published first suite of prints. Nozkowski has been showing his work since the 1970’s. Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer
I just LOVE this primer, and had been reintroduced to it by a friend that worked as an artist for them and kindly gave me a bunch of samples that lasted a long time. Well I finally ran out and for some reason couldn't see spending $30 on a tube of it. And like the total dork that I am, (or maybe it's just a bit of female indecision) decided to try about 5 other products thinking this would "save" me money in the long run, which it didn't. Considering the time it takes to return things, the breakouts I suffered, the oil slick from one of the products not even coming close to working like it was supposed to, and then trying to get my skin normalized again from trying 5 different things on it. Should I have gone and bought the goddamn Laura Mercier "Primer of all Primers" in the first place, HELL YEAH!! It goes on really smooth and comes in two formulas, one for oil control and regular hydrating for dryer skin. You apply it after moisturizer and before foundation and powder to get long lasting makeup, with visibly reduced pore size (we could all use that) all with a vitamin enriched formula that will make your skin look really healthy.

Stevie Nicks will be releasing a new album next spring 2011 she has been in collaboration with Dave Stewart in the studio. Having been a fan of hers since I was a child, and having recently seen her with Fleetwood Mac in concert here in San Diego, I absolutely cannot wait to hear what this incomparably talented woman will have in store for us.

YAY!!!YAY!!!!YAY!!!! I totally did some detective work and tracked down the last track played in the 2nd half of the Chanel Haute Couture 2010/11 show. It's "Knight Moves" by Chilly Gonzales from the album Ivory Tower. I love the way this song builds up, it starts out slow sort of chamber music like, then continues on into an electronic disco world lined with a silver cloud of happiness and some caviar on a spoon!! If you are having a bad day this song will get you out of your funk FO SHO......
