VW Love

Volkswagons are special, and so are the people that love them and drive, them especially old one's. There is a certain kind of lifestyle associated with the VW brand. Labels such as carefree, hippie, liberal, free thinker, beach bum, mod, surfer, beat nick etc. I love ALL of it! I used to have a baby blue 1964 VW bug. And everytime I see any model of VW I get nostalgic. Even though I lived 7 years with no AC, and no defroster I drove everywhere with the windows down with the wind blowing in my hair. There was always something special about the way it felt, sounded and drove... the" purr" of that VW muffler. Something almost human about that old car.....I had a lot of good and bad times in that car, I will always miss you Ms. Beetle!!!

Citroen 2CV

 Saw one of these last night when I was out and about and thought it was pretty cool, so I googled it and had no idea that there was a special edition created by Hermes.There are a lot of big birthdays in the car industry this year, and the Citroen 2CV joins GM and Land Rover in the candle-blowing crowd. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the deux-say-vay, Hermes created a special version of a 1989 Citroen 2CV6 Special for the Paris Auto Show. If you saw the Bugatti Veryon by Hermes you know what to expect, with hand-stitched swathes of Hermes trademark gray-beige leather contrasted with white on the front and rear benches. Of course the Hermes treatment is worth as much as the car itself, but anything the 2CV lacks in luxury is more than made up for by character. Sunday Driver In a Beautiful 1958 Corvette

 I have always had a fascination for vintage Corvette's the Stingray in particular, when I was googling pictures of Stingray's I came across these, and I thought they were great! What an awesome 58' Corvette and check out the lovely lady with a passion for driving one. I would love to someday have a vintage Corvette to drive around at my leisure wouldn't you!

Penny and Her 1958 Corvette


Penny asked me to photograph the rear of her car "to show the Corvette logo", she said. This is my last image of Penny and her amazing classic vintage sports car.  Penny is our 86 year old neighbor and friend. She is the most youthful 86 year old I've ever met and she drives a 1958 Corvette in mint condition which she bought new 48 years ago. Penny is British and grew up near Devon where she worked for years for the fire department. I asked Penny what she did when she worked for the fire department and she exclaimed, in her beautiful British accent, "I FOUGHT FIRES!". I asked Penny if I could take photos of her with her beloved Corvette. She graciously agreed, and said, "It needs a new paint job, but so do I!" Penny is a lovely woman and a role model of what it can be like to be a senior young-at-heart.
